Cookie Policy

Last updated: 20 September 2026

This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies are used on sites.gratis, what they are for, and how you can control them.

Who is responsible

The data controller is Nuno José Barata Alves, a self-employed professional based in Alcabideche, Cascais, Portugal, trading under the sites.gratis brand.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site work properly, remember preferences and, in some cases, measure how well advertising performs. In this policy the term also covers equivalent technologies such as browser local storage.

Cookies we use

Essential

Required for the site to work. They collect nothing for advertising purposes and do not require consent.

sg_cookie_consent Stores your cookie choice so the banner is not shown on every visit. It stays in your browser's local storage and is never sent to a server. Until you clear your browser data

Analytics and advertising

These load only after you accept them. If you decline, they are not installed.

Meta Pixel (Facebook / Instagram)

Measures how our ads perform: how many people visited the site after seeing an ad and which pages they viewed. It also helps show more relevant ads. Up to 90 days, renewed on each visit

Data collected by the Meta Pixel is processed by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, acting as joint controller for certain operations. See Meta's Privacy Policy and cookie information. This data may be transferred outside the European Economic Area under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Third-party services and demo sites

Some links on this site take you to third-party platforms, such as WhatsApp and PayPal. Those services have their own cookie and privacy policies, which apply from the moment you leave sites.gratis.

The same applies to the demos and stores shown in our portfolio. Sites built on Wix and online stores built on Shopify set their own cookies — essential ones for the service to work (session, shopping cart, security and fraud prevention) and, where the owner enables them, analytics and advertising cookies too. Those cookies are set by the platform and by the store owner, not by sites.gratis, and are governed by the policies published on each site. See Shopify's cookie policy and Wix's privacy policy if you wish.

sites.gratis itself is not built on Shopify and sets no Shopify cookies.

Stores we build for clients

When we set up a Shopify store or a Wix site on a client's behalf, it is the client — as data controller — who is responsible for the cookie policy and consent banner shown on that store. sites.gratis can configure those tools on request, but does not decide on its own initiative which cookies a client's store uses.

Changing your choice

You can change your mind at any time.

To see the banner again and choose afresh, use the button below. If you had accepted, your previous decision is erased.

Alternatively, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Note that blocking all cookies may affect how many websites work, not just this one.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to access your personal data, request its correction or erasure, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, write to nunobarataalves@gmail.com.

If you believe your data is not being handled properly, you may lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority, CNPD.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated whenever we change the tools used on the site. The date at the top shows the version in force.
